  • Looking for Tropheus Brichardi "Yungu"

I'm looking for some of these guys. I absolutely love the color on them. Has anyone ever seen these in person? Possibly on a collection list? The collection point is in Yungu, Congo (far north, closer to burundi) I know it's tough to collect species from there, just curious if anyone else knows anything about them.

    Thanks,
    Jonathan

    Jonathan,

I have never seen that fish in Alex's store, or on any list that I can remember.

I think your best bet, would be to get a hold of Old World Exotic and ask for Laif or Kevin.  Ask them if Burundi Farms is going Congo side to make any wild collections on Tropheus and if they do, ask them if they would make a import on them.

Problem is the brichardi dont move so well and people in general shy away from them. It might be hard to get Old World to Import them.  They would probably have to import 300 fish to get them to collect it.

I'm going to try, I'd love to have 20-30 of them. That greenish/blue tint is crazy!

If the cost wasn't too outrageous, I would like to have a couple dozen as well....

I'll post back as soon as I find something out. Maybe the pirates are guarding them in that area

Re: Looking for Tropheus Brichardi "Yungu"

I spoke with Alex last night about this particular variant. He said he got a shipment of them in back in 96/97 and the overall color of them was disappointing. Mostly brown/black on the body. He also said he only recalls about 2 males out of a large group possessing this type of color. Since then he never saw the fish on the list again, so I guess I'll just have to go for some green murago's!

In my of research I have found pictures of two fish, one that has the green looking body and one that has the more brown looking body.
I think the fish looks AWESOME... I understand your wanting some.
