Re: trophs in pond
under the covered porch with fan on during the day stays a perfect 80 degrees. but we have had some cooler nights. temp went down to 75,so i put in 5 heaters. set for 80 degrees. well pond got up to 83 so i'm adjusting them down.i would rather do this in the spring, with winter coming on i'm a little nervous but i've been keeping these cichlids outside for 6 yrs now so i'm going for it. also now i can get the moops out of the 210 and have a trew only tank. that should help them. ek- i don't remember that conversation about the alternative food?200

Keep us updated on the tropheus pond project. I was planning on doing something similar in the spring. Since I haven't been keepig cichlids outside, I'll probably start with some "tester" cichlids. I'm thinking brichardi right now... :wink:Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Re: trophs in pond
I have been keeping Cichlids outside for a few years now and they do great, especially in the sunlight. Their colors are just stunning , but u gotta gotta gotta bring them in before winter sets in, or keep alot of heaters available.
Also, if they are outside, make sure us spend some money on a UV sterilizer to keep the algea at bay or you will have lots of green water and will be unable to watch your Ts
