    Re: trophs in pond

I have a bunch of the smaller ones if anyone needs some, I really only need one for an emergency tank.

                Re: trophs in pond

                About the 300g Rubbermaid tubs.

                Question:

Do you guys think a bare tub would be better than stocking it with rock. I have been thinking about this recently. I have a breeder over here that keeps his in a bare 75G tank. His T's are massive and he has been doing for 15 years. My concern is the aggressiveness . If you have it bare, will they fight too much. I guess if you have enough in there , it will spread the agression.

But if you put rocks in it, then you have to put lots of rocks??

                What do you guys think..

                  Re: trophs in pond

next one i do i will rough up bottom and sides and paint white with krylon spray paint. multiple coats. and yes i would put holy rock in it. less aggresive fish can hide and all them fry. you should use that drain. maybe a stand pipe to a sump or bog filter. or a valve to make water changes easy.   good luck   jc

I would put rocks in it.....gives them a sense of comfort.

                      Re: trophs in pond

probably gives the fry places to hide also. A bare tank will be much easier to clean, but I think a tank with rocks in it will be the way to go.Thanks for the input

                        Re: trophs in pond

Rocks is always better because the fish need recovery areas, and the fry need hideouts.

Otherwise your stripping all females every 28 days, and I think stripping them is a bad operation.  That is my opinion.

                          Update!!

Tractor Supply called me yesterday and I will be picking up 3- 300 gallon tubs. I will be setting them up in the condo for hopefully 2 months. House should be done by christmas. Once I am in the house , they will go in the utility room (fish room). I am having water lines and a drain run just for them.

FYI: I got the roof up. Electrical, and Plumbing tomorrow. Also windows and doors will be in by the weekend. Hopefully, by next weekend, I get some drywall. Smooth sailing from here if it doesn't rain
