Last of my Tropheus - Hard Times and the Good.

I've had several heartbreaking experiences with my tropheus over the past year, these dubs are the last of my trophs.









these where taken just a short time ago, during a water change....notice two of the yellow nkonde's in the mix....?

No, I would like too, but I don't have the "green thumb" for trophs. I love them to death, but I just can't stand to see even one of them perish in my tanks. I've lost so many in the past year, it's obvious to me, that I am not capable of taking care of them sufficiently. These guys here, the dubs, seem a bit more forgiving than the others I have had.

Steve is that a picture of your 215?  That is some massive rock in there.  I love it, and so do the fishes!!

I am sorry you had such bad luck, you still have that last Ujiji?

No Geoff, that's a 135....

The Ujiji was beat up by the two remaining yellow nkonde's I had in the tank with him and my dubs, I moved him to another tank, but he did not recover.

I now am down to three nkondes and the 24 dubs.

I'd like to buy Chris's mpimbes?....so I would like to sell the dubs here if anyone is in the market.

I'll post them later today I guess....

Lack of routine feedings and or water changes.

Pampering them too much....ie ...over feeding...

Maybe suspect water quality...?

When I lost all the nkonde from last winters group buy, I truly believe I did not have sufficient time to set up their tank. I do not believe it was cycled properly.  They would not eat, and they started dieing within the first 48 hours and the majority where gone within a week. Same with the 14 Kachese I bought.

I bought 24 Ujiji from Geoff last year, had them for about 9 months, they where doing fine, then one by one, again, the majority where gone in les than 9 days.

I bought 20 Ulwile Juvi's from Gary Hess near dallas about 6 months ago, today I have nine or ten left.....

Man... you have bad luck, or bad habits. :( What was your daily/weekly routine with your colonies?  :think:

Perhaps there are some valuable lessons newer Tropheus keepers like myself can learn from your experiences..
