Took out 13 bad eggs and more to file tomorrow for sure.

I put the powerheads on a timer so they cut off around 7am, hopefully that will help the females collect as much milt as possible to fertilize the eggs with. Theory is that too much flow dilutes the milt too quickly before the female can get enough to fertilize eggs.

I've tried that theory but it doesn't seem like anything changes. I have 2 active breeding males and like 10 females only 2 of them give me a good batch of egg(17-25). I think it just depends on the fish. Maybe the disturbance around when they breed also.

They need a love cave.

Petros are not naturally schooling fishes so having a lot together may impact breeding.

That might be the problem, making caves for two 10" fish to fit in ain't exactly easy

Thats exactly what I was going to say. Ive got a wet saw and diamond grinders if you need to cut some.just let me know im a expert at cutting

So all eggs were not fertilized. On the plus side, another female is dropping her vent and the alpha is going nuts. Let's see what happens. Hopefully not having the powerheads on early morning will help.

So I sacrificed a chicken, burned some incense and completely turned off all powerheads for the night. Fingers crossed.
