I was walking past the tank last night when I saw this, pure luck.

Question: how well and how soon after breeding do the females hide their load?

I could tell she was holding by looks until it must have been into 3rd week. That was even with that pretty big clutch. "Course she about quit eating so I knew.

Ok good. Why I asked is that the pouch was much smaller this morning, barely there. But I think she's still holding. Usually she's first up for food, now she acts like she didn't even know me when I stick my fingers in the water. Hurts man.

Yeah, I never saw much pouch until late in the game when she started picking up a little flake for them. Then she held and held and held and got real pooked out. Looks like I just ended up with 4 this last spawn and her bauccal cavity(?) never really got that distended. Good Luck!

Is there another male defending the other end of the tank?

That's good. I suppose the rest kinda stay herded in the middle & upper tank, unless a female decides to drop by for a sniff. How the texas kipli doin'?

The male TX Kipili is doing great, but I think he harassed her to death. She would not respond to treatment and died.

Actually, all the BG just swim around the whole tank. The dom male gets to pick the corner to breed

Unfortunately, this round was short lived. Found the female and a smaller male a little beat up this morning and they are now in the hospital. I think the time has come to increase the flow in the tank. Already have four Aqueon 2400 pumps, gonna add a Koralia 8. Moving all the Aqueon pumps to the left side and the K8 to the right side. Also gonna run the return pump wide open as well.

I've been working at home a lot and the day I go into the office for 5 hours, my one and only WC Petro Mtoto Male got taken out by a longola. I had seen some lip locking in the past, but nothing serious. Now I have to wait for the offspring to grow up and do some magic.

Nothing to be sorry about, nobody's dead. Just a little beat up.

It's not "doing much against" the BG that I'm looking for. They will be distractions more than anything else.
