  • Lol thanks man. You know how it is, never a dull moment in this hobby. Lost alpha and beta plus a smaller BG last weekend to a very fast acting protozoan infestation (suspecting chilodonella, rest are fully cured now) so waiting for another male to come up to alpha spot for the fry train to start going again.

Also pulled out a dozen Moshi Mahale wigglers from a 5" female, so I have all three of my colonies breeding now.

    • That's awsome Sunny, sorry to hear that you lost your alpha and beta males. I guess that just opens the door for a fresh new alpha and beta to rule that monster tankl.
Moshis look great, if they grow anywhere as quick as the BG's did, you will be rich by the end of the year. Lol

      • Rich? Nah, probably get close to breaking even LOL

BG grow pretty fast for sure, Moshi are also getting big quick. I've upped the feeding a little after treating them so hopefully it's full steam ahead again soon

          • I'm not too worried about it because I have everything in place to where I can absorb these little hiccups.

            • Congrats on the moshi frys, just curious if it was from the female you got from me.

              • Yes it was! This was the third time she bred for me and it was successful.

                  • Definitely.

I've started feeding these guys heavy again, shouldn't be too long before the new alpha comes up to bat.

Congrats on all the positive action!

How were you able to diagnose the illness? Was it based on symptoms, or did you start using a microscope?

I've been considering picking up a hobby grade microscope so I can start making better informed decisions when illnesses crop up. At the very least, it would be nice to see if one is dealing with gram + or vice versa bacteria from time to time. Just curious

                          • Strictly based on symptoms Sean. Apparently you only have about 15 - 20 minutes to see them through a microscope after scraping a sample off the slime coat and gills before the parasite starts dying off due to the heat of the microscope lamp, so having one on hand would have been helpful.
