Success. Finally got these stubborn fish to breed. I bought a 90 gallon and put them in my room. I have had a few vents drop but I have a roommate that stays up very late with lights on and it disrupts them so this was a good move. Yesterday I picked up my red cheek from Rene and Luis came over to help me move the red cheek tank. We went to check in on the yellow cheek and we saw this.

Meh, the canary cheek yellow cheek never got as bright and they didn't have the blue eyes. The canary cheek females didn't show consistent yellow cheek, but these do. It's more permanent. Not as shy and moody. But there are some similarities I guess.

I disagree man look at the yellow on those canary. but I have to admit the blue eyes on the mipimbwe is great

Come see my colony then change your mind. My fish have more yellow. The females have nice yellow stripes.

Well I happen to like these a bit more and they are a rarer fish so I'm happy they finally bred.

Fry don't have blue eyes. But they'll look cool. I got 9 wigglers from the last female that bred and got another female holding with the best looking male. The aggression is out of control. I'll end up with one male if I don't add more fish.

I have 9 wigglers and pulled 11 more eggs this morning after 3 days of holding. Most if not all of these have eyes and are starting to hatch. This video was this morning. She layed quite a few eggs and didn't even get all of them out. She's still fat. Others are getting back to conditioning for another round. I'm down to 13 fish that looks to be 2m/11f or 3m/10f. Aggression is crazy but I'm getting fry so we'll see what happens. Gonna try to pull a myjohnson lol
