Lol, that doesn't even read like it's in English to me Donald!

Could you post some pictures comparing the flash set up you have?

I remember seeing you at Mike's with the wireless flash.

What type of camera do you have?

      NIKON D200

And I did use a wireless flash at Mike's. The pop up is the commander and the flash I held was the slave. I also shot with my 60/2.8

BTW, several years ago I worked with a professional wildlife photographer out of Colorado (we worked together at Apple), and he got me into Nikon. He advised that I pick up the Nikon and pick up the Canon and see which one I can manipulate without looking at the manual. The Nikon was the easiest for me. This guy is a big Nikon user also and now he shoots back and forth with either a D300 or D3 model.

Regarding lenses, I see that Jesper and Bhushan like the 50mm f1.8. Donald likes a number of lenses.

If I wanted to take a good close up shot of the fish then I need a macro lenses, I'm guessing this is what the 50mm is used for?

If I wanted to take a good group shot or FTS of a tropheus colony, what lens do you guys recommend I get?

            Thanks in advance.

no 55mm would be for normal picture taking a 75-200mm or comparable lens would be your macro lens
              25g - Reef
              3.5g - Surge Tank
10g - Ichthyophthirius multifilis breeding colony

Thai -- If you read though what Donald likes we both like about the same in lenses. (there is a 10mm difference between the Canon 50 and Nikon 60) The Canon 50mm f/1.8 takes sharp pictures and is an excellent short range picture (ie 45cm/18in) min distance from the tank. Not having worked with the Nikon 60 I am thinking its most likely the same style lens. A sharp prime (ie non-zoom) lens that will take exceptional pictures.

Both Nikon and Canon has the 100mm Macro lens which both of us like those for the up close and I want to see the scales of the fish kind of pictures. I dont own a 100mm macro lens so I cannot tell you how sharp those pictures are going to be.

The inherit problem of using a zoom lens is that you have give up a little here and there to make the zoom function. This is why Prime lenses are so valuable when you want super sharp pictures, because you dont have to give up quality of shot, but you give up zoom so you have to move a lot more you saw that when I crawled all over your tank taking pictures.

Remote flashes are very possible with the Canon camera, but the problem is that unlike Nikon they use a dedicated remote flash unit where as some of the Nikon camera's have them built in. I am sure that Canon will add this feature to their camera's at some point in the future. (Canon ST-E2 is the remote flash unit)

Its not an easy decision to make. Once you go one way its difficult to go back. Issue there is that lenses is where the money is going to be spent at and once you have a set of lenses, replacing them with the other brand.. well you get the point.

                Keep smiling :)

My macro lenses are the 60mm and the 105mm.

My 50 mm is a 1.4 prime (non-zoom/great in low light)

Are both your macro lenses 1:1 or anything different ?

I've shorten the list on the body I want, and imagining what type of flash system to set-up. Now I'm looking into lenses. All this info is kind of cool but it's a lot to process at once.

                      Thanks for the help guys.
