  • Newer Corals/Additions

Couple pics/tank update: Everything is healthy, just a little slow growing. Been maybe 5 months since last water change, but I've been convinced to go back to weekly changes.

    FTS:

Here my RBTA, had him about 2 months now, hes a good 4-5" at times.

I just got this a couple days ago from Virginia - It's a torch, mounted on a monti-encrusted rock. It's awkward, but pretty cool. Instead of making him try and fit in with my overall layout, hes going to be the start of his own little rock pile.

Birds of Paradise coral: Had this for a while, never thought it was really doing very well until I looked up an old picture of it where it was a whole lot smaller.

Just a couple pics of new poly/zoas I picked up last week.

Not sure, I should have enough. ~250w about 2" above water line so they're about 20" above the sand. I'm not really hoping for fast growth from the monti on the torch. We'll see what happens!

Looks good. Hard to tell depth from the pic but how close is the torch to the trumpets?

The torch is near the front but there's about a 3" gap between the two when the torch is mostly extended out. Is that something I should watch out for? I'm still not familiar with coral vs coral interactions

Yes make sure you know coral toxicity when placing corals this will help to make sure you dont loose corals. Anything in the Euphylia family will kill just about any other coral. Lobos and galaxeas are pretty bad too. Trumpets and canes are pretty weak. Every once in a while the torch will have a sweeper tentacle that will be an inch or so longer than the normal length that just whips around trying to find something to jack up. 3" maybe enough now but has it gets larger it wont. Just keep an eye on it. I like using Euphylias to control other corals from moving or spreading to much. Like zoas and nems though nems can just float if they really dont like where they are at and cant walk to another spot.
