  • Baby shrimp - cherry and ghost!!

Just a couple of pics here. My cherries have finally gotten stronger and I have babies! They're really hard to catch outside of hiding since they have infinity places to hide in a heavily planted tank but I caught this cutie scaling the side.

And as unbelievable as this is, apparently my ghost shrimp must have spawned while they were in this tank because I spotted this tiny 1/4" long BABY GHOST SHRIMP in the tank tonight! How did that even happen?? I've heard basically everywhere that they absolutely will not breed in a regular freshwater tank!

Congrats!, Ghosts can breed in FW (they breed in my ditch in North Houston, not any salt in it), but seem to have a zoea stage that is tough to get through. I occasionally see folks accidentilly breed them, but usual batch size is in the 100's. Its usually just the odd one or two survivors. I think its just a case of not having enough of whatever the developing larvae need to thrive.
