Bought my first camera just last week. Canon Powershot S95. I like it cus its affording me the opportunity to start learning how to operate in manual mode successfully, but without having to ahead and dive right in.

iPhone was the only camera until last week
Hey just an FYI, I bought a book a while back and have just now really sat down and read it. It's called understanding exposure. It has allot of great information, tips and exercises. Might be worth looking into, I know I found it useful.
I've been reading online. Took my first macro shot that I thought I could be proud of last night... sadly, it's just of the red bubble part of a $2 metal hanging thermometer lol. But hey, I got the aperture down! wooooo
I'm using an ancient Olympus 3030-Zoom camera. It was hot stuff when it first came out, but now it's just old.
What I have to do is take the pics in the largest setting possible and then reduce them back down. That helps clear up the graininess that I normally get.
It has a bracket feature that suppresses the flash light and takes 5 pics, each with a different exposure setting, which I find very helpful. I usually find one of the 5 pics is better than the rest so that's the one I use. Whenever I get a new camera, I really hope to get the same bracket feature again.
