  • Hm. For me the main reason is the Canon 65mm MP-E and MR-14EX. Plug and play on the EOS-M. There's no other lens on the market like the MP-E. I also like the idea of using it for astrophotography because of how little it weighs (affect on the GEM decreased).

I'm getting another tank this weekend so it will be picture posting worthy.

The eos-m is still gonna require a 200 adaptor before it can play with ef lenses. 800 + 200.... Ouch. You could get a nex5 and metabones ef adaptor for less than the price of the eos-m alone.

Yeah, but will the NEX5 meter for eTTL with the MR-14EX mounted on it? I doubt it. That's what I'm getting at is it is just easier to get the M. Im selling my 60D to fund the purchase the EOS-M.

                      • Why sell the 60D and get the M? That seems like a step backwards to me.

                        • yep i would not sell the 60d for that eos-m if it was me...
i would kinda be careful and not to put all bets on the first generation canon evil...it's first generation after all..
plus not sure if you saw the hands on videos...the auto focus seems pretty slow on the eos-m...
with the ef adapter it will only be more slow...
on the other hand...Nex 5n is also pretty slow on the auto focus...but the 5n sensor is better than the one for nex 7...
the dynamic range 5n raw image is very good...
so 5n+all the manual lens is fun...

Because I use my 60D strictly for my MP-E. I have no other Canon lenses. It is a manual focus lens so AF speed is irrelevant to me. I have a D7000 for all other types of shooting and the AF is plenty fast on it.

Pretty much what I'm banking on is Canon or a 3rd party coming out with a macro lens for this body so I can start using it as my main macro body and save weight in the end.

I bought the first gen nex. Nex5, it was pretty nice. But less than a few months after I got it, the 5n came out and wiped the floor with my older Nex5. So I sold it.

Lesson = Don't buy first gen stuff. You're basically beta testing for them. A better version will pop up in under a year.

Too bad the eos-m doesn't have the flippy screen. I found that really helpful for macro shots. Having the camera is weird positions low to the ground, I could just flip the screen out and see live view mode. Otherwise you'd have to get eye level with the screen.

yep, specially with canon stuff...first gen and first batch will almost always have problems lol...
and canon camera bodies price go down very fast lol...
flippy screen is another thing...with the flip, waist focus and above head focus is possible lol...
and also not sure if the eos m has the peak manual? if not then it won't be really good to play with manual lens lol...
another thing is the price...with the price that just come out...its just not really worth it...
                                it's pretty much a nex3 spec...with a higher than 5n's price...
i got my 5n body new for a little over 400 bucks...
so maybe a few month later when the eos m price dump begins...it would be a better choice lol..
