why does the drain pipe go all the way up the back of the tank

so i wont have 150 gallons of water sitting in my bedroom when the power goes out

tonight i am adding a faucet in the wall to help with water changes and keep water hoses out of the house

sorry for waiting till tonight but here are the updates I have so far

well I got lucky that my tank is on the other side of my refrigerator so i split my ice maker line and plumed it threw the wall i need to get an escution to cover the hole the pipe comes threw so it looks kind of crappy for now

and here it is going into the sump

I also added anouther bin for extra sump space when the power goes out when i do my next water cange i will test it


also added a koralia

then last but not least i added some filter media to my wet dry to start cycling and i also added 4 fish to get it started so i picked up some msobo



my next thing will be to get all my eletrical crap nice and neat and make some room for a cannister

Exactly what I was wondering! I fail to see how the high part of the drain pipe will help once a solid siphon has been established. I must be missing something.

ya i dont think that will work because you will still have the weight of all the water on there and the siphon will have already started u might try a soleniod

ya just the pics hehe and the vent wasnt in the other "painting" so thats where we got confused but ya that will definatly work then

this seems like a genius plan, but i'm confused about one thing. The rocks are surrounding the intakes, is that gonna disturb the filtering process? how will waste get into the rocks?

its not completly covering the intakes it just makes them less visbile
