So what happens when you are not home and the power outage is no more?
Wouldn't that leave you with a low water level and pump to run dry?
Maybe you could have made the union lower and then utilized the added storage for added volume capacity and maybe put a plant filter over there.700g Mini-Monster tank

oh yeah...got me a shout out on the video!!
anyway, so how much does all the plumbing, the sump, the power head, etc cost you? I am very interested in learning how to do all of this. Instead of drilling, is there a way to run the intakes from the top? I dont wanna drill my tank.If it ain't wild caught
You ain't doing it right

If you don't want to drill holes then just use a surface skimmer

Ok it has been a while since I have had a update so here it is
went to parts on the weekend and found these cool blue led spotlights for around $8.00 and i had a converter at home so i figured what the hell i will try to rig something will for the $8.00 this was a hell of awesome look because it only puts light in certain areas and it is not crazy bright
sorry the night pics did not come out
then i put egg crate as covers instead of glass for easy feeding
i finally fixed all the wires ad crap i got a piece of 1/4" birch and painted it a glossy black and it matched perfect then i just attached everything to it
and yes i need and want better fixtures
thats about it
I did get a overflow from Tim that i will be installing ,also the cannister and a uv light are in the mail stillLast edited by gotticgs; 03-08-2009, 10:03 PM.

few questions...
1. the water in the rubbermaid container has to be dumped every time?
2. wouldn't the pump end up running dry if you dont refill when power comes back on? (i know ek asked this b4) do you you have enough of a gap from the top of the tank with the drain pipe so it wont run dry but the tank just wont fill all the way up?
3. thats not much pressure on the refill pipe is that something you can fix or just have to deal with? long time to refill.
tank looks great! keep the pics and vids coming along the way as you keep adding to it.

Only when the power goes out.
question 2 It does not completely run dry and i would say yes to the gap question.
question 3 Its only 1/2 cpvc and i think it fills the tank pretty quickly it also was never piped correctly and if i turn it on full blast its like Niagra falls so i only open half way.later on i will fix properly.
