  • Frontosa diet??????????

Hey fishboxers, I am starting a frontosa colony (burundi), and was just wondering if anyone here could help me. I just want to know what is the best food for bringing out their blue color. Any suggestions would be much appriciated, Thanks.

PROTEIN!!! This is my feeding schedule for my Burundi tank and my Mpimbwe tank.
*Monday-Friday: NLS pellets in the morning, frozen bloodworms for lunch and spirulina enhanced brine shrimp for dinner.
*On the weekends i do mostly veggies. Cichlid flakes and pellets.
Burundi's will not keep their blue color as well as some of the other Fronts. My Burundi are about 4" and they are starting to lose a little of the "brightness" but they are all healthy. The Mpimbwe on the other hand, continue to get darker and brighter. Hope this helps.

New Life Spectrum is considered to be one of the best foods for Frontosa. I also feed TetraColor granules and spirulina base flake. I feed my adults once a day, my fry and juvies twice. DO NOT FEED ANYTHING THAT FLOATS, if you feed flakes sumerge the flakes into the tank before releasing them. Keep it simple!! Good Luck

I would say NLS, Dainichi and Shrimpmix.

NLS (New Life Spectrum) Thera A ....and Dainichi. I don't know if it's the fact that Thera A contains more garlic, but my Fronts go crazy over this stuff.

if you dont care about them interbreeding.... that would be your only worry. and yes nls, dainichi, krill, bloodworms, brine shrimp, feeder fish, old tires etc. they eat just about everything :)

A cheaper alternative would be some quality silversides.
