I have this Electric Yellow 'holding' again for the third time since last Thanksgiving. I was going to just let her keep her brood in the 55g with the rest of my fish but then I just can't, thinking the little ones might end up being someone's lunch. So, I'm going to move her to the 10g. My question is:

Can I just leave her there with her kiddos? If I put her back into the 55g she'll just get pregnant again and I have way too many babies now.

I am not sure about the labs, but most parents will only tolerate their young for so long and then they too will consider them lunch at some point.

Me, I'd leave her in the 55 with the community. A few kids just might make it if there is enough hiding places.

If you let her release the babies in the tank (55g), usually a few 2-3 will survive, and 1 will grow out.. honestly, yeah I know its sad, but you are correct about having WAY to many babies floating around if you try and keep them all :)

I know you guys are right but I would rather give them all away than let them become lunch. And, I know in real life, it would be "the strongest survive" and guess that's the way Mother Nature intended BUT..............................

Anyone want some babies in a few weeks?
