  • Stocking a 30 gallon.

I need some suggestions stocking my 30 gallon, which I am working to completely redo.

I am going to use pool filter sand, and several large rocks from the local rock quarry.

My question is this..what would you put in a 30 gallon long? I know by being so small I am truly limited, but I'd really like a breeding trio of something, or just some colorful fish with perhaps personality. But I want to consider the fish's size requirements firstly.

    I'm wanting to do cichlids..

    Any opinions?

A small school of Barb's. Fish Gallery has a good selection right now. They've got some really nice tigers. Green if they have them would look really nice.

A small Tang community is your best best. A Demasoni colony is possible too, but I think you'd get more bang out of the Tangs.

Get some shell dwellers - I'm pretty sure Aquazoo still has some Gold Ocellatus.

            Shellies are cool.
Fish are people too, they just have gills.

Any suggestions on what types of shellies? I went to Aquazoo a couple days ago, and I believe they had 2 occies.

Caudopunks! They are close to shell dwellers (they spawn in shells)... with the added benefit that they are usually out in the open.
                  Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

I really enjoy my colony of Neolamp... multifasc... not sure how to spell it all... just call them multies..

they're not the flashiest fish but they are very entertaining to watch... i've got 10 of them in a 30 gallon tank, and theres plenty of room for more...

just need to get more shells...

                        Alright I'm considering the following:

A group of shellies, (Species depends on avail)
                        -------------
                        Or the following:
                        A pair or rams,
                        Some tetras
                        An angelfish or two..
Maybe some tangs to go with them
                        Would that idea work?

                          +1 on the punks!!!
i had a trio in a 20g long for a long time, very fun little fish.
pretty much any shellies are great fun to watch, also julidochromis are very beautiful fun little fish.

if you go your later route, i would not add shellies to that mix, they need completly different water parameters.
and to make the sheelies happy would make the rams, angels, and tetras unhappy, and vis versa.
