I completely agree. The annectens and poli type Tropheus are the only tropheus where the male is a different color than the females, and they all have the forked tail. The fish are just really cool and extremely rare and unique. Completely different from the other tropheus types.
They some really cool fishes!!
but I am freak like that....

I personally believe that Mpulungu is the best most colorful tropheus from Alpha to Omega fish.
I agree. I think they just have a certain appeal to them that is unmatched by any other Troph. A certain je ne sais quoi if you will. Perhaps its the combination of Blue, Yellow, and Green that is somehow subconsciously pleasing to the eye?
I think I could easily have a Moop colony down the road.
I dont really care for most the rainbow types, and shoot for the oddballs and exotics. So its really up to your tastes and what you want.
The more experience I gain, the more I'm starting to understand this perspective - and am even starting to get it myself.
And I really wish I could trade the sign, but I only have 49% ownership.

also please understand I am not knocking rainbows or anything like that, I just have a perspective that most would not have. I think most people at first are attracted to the color of the Rainbow types at first and that is what they seek first in Trophs.
I started out with Karilani Island Dubs and Rutunga Red Saddles.
Every Tropheus has its own beauty, it is in the eye of the beholder.

I kept the Ilangi's for the longest I could but so many times I felt that I wanted something else! Mostly cause of Ad's one single photograph but soon I found out that that is not the case for them all.
With any "colorful" variant there is a great deal of variation, with the smaller colonies you notice it a lot more since the fish show it and there are less to hide it. Now on some days they seem to all be on fire but for the most part they are not.
With the less eye catching variants there is a lot less variation and more of the little things that make them stand out above the rest. More uniformed looke and simple little things like blue eyes against a brown body makes that one thing stand out so much more then if it were yellow iris on a yellow flank fish.

Oh no - no offense taken. I can completely understand your point of view on Trophs, and I'm starting to understand it and even somewhat share it. I love my Red Rainbows because were are my first colony, but I just don't have the draw to the other rainbows like I did before.
I've become a HUGE fan of the Mpimbwe over the last few months. Seeing yours in person just solidified it. I do want get some fry from you. I just have to get everyone arranged here, get filtration in place, get money, etc etc.. The boss is making me slow down for a while to make sure everything is done right. I can't blame her. I'm very impetuous with this hobby.
