i am thinking of going with trophs for my 125g.

    which variant would yall choose?

    here are the possibilities -

    Tropheus Morri Nkonde 'Yellow'
    Tropheus Sp. Red Kachese
Tropheus Bulu Point - Cherry Spot
    Tropheus Annectens Kekese
    Tropheus Sp. Red Livua
Tropheus (i forgot the scientific name) Green Wimple
    Tropheus Morri Golden Kazumbe (Sp?)
    or Tropheus Katoto?

lmk what you would pick and why they stand out to you.
i personally like all of these Sp.
so its not a biggie to me.
    just getting some extra input.

Number of * is the ranking I would be looking at the fish. Livua being the highest. Now I look at the fish also with how rate it is outside Houston as Houston has more Trophs than just about any other city I can think of.

i was goign to go with bulus, but they will be 6 months coming, and the annectens, for the amount i want from geoff and the livuas for the amount i want from ssrprelude, it will probably be a long time in the making, do to waiting lists and ssrprelude wanting to use his fry to add to the main colony.
so i think i will probably stick with New World Cichlids for now.
but when its time, i will be getting the bulus:)

i cant wait, i have always wanted bulus, so i will wait till i can get atleast 40 WC Adults, 4m36f

until this can be accomplished i will wait, plus my brother in laws friend decided to keep his PC 300 and mag 12, so i wont be getting the Wetdry i wanted either:(

does anyone have a complete proclear 200 with pumpoverflow box, hose, media for under $150?
if so i will buy it in the next couple weeks when i get paid.
or does anyone know where i can get one?

                          Finally seeing the light!

                          1) Annectens: Pro, rarer then most of the other fishes and the white on them stand out like whiteout on paper. No cons in my book.

                          2) Nkonde: Pro, looks really good and I think matches the looks of the ilangi. Con: everyone and their mom has them.

                          3)
Malagarasi: Pro rarer fishes then others on the list. I've only seen them once in real life at mike's. Con: color is not like wow.

Any fish from the Congo side is going to be bad a$$ to have cause only a few exporters actually go out to collect there. Additionally, the political and ecomonic conditions there are not going to change for a while. So those fishes are going to stay rare.

Democratic Republic of Congo has been at the center of what could be termed Africa's world war, and the eastern region (lakeside) is plagued by militia violence.

p.s. beware of the bulu, they don't look like the pictures in real life. The red was be very washed out at times.

I ate my fish that died.

yeah, i will probably get the annectens kekese, the hitch is, i am just getting ideas at the moment, i wont be able to buy my trophs until i move out middle of next year:(

                            i am getting a 180+g tank
heres the setup i was thinking of

                            180g 6'x2'x2'

                            Filtration -

                            ADG 30"x18"x18" wetdry, running a Mag 18
Eheim 2262 Canister & Hydor ETH 300 Watt In-Line Heater
                            2x Tunze Turbell 6100's

                            Lighting-

                            Coralife Aqualight Pro - 3x 250 Watt 8K HQI Metal Halides & 4x 96 Watt 6700K CF

                            Substrate -

                            Sugar - Sized Aragonite Sand

                            HardScape -

                            Rocks -
Probably some kind of Lava Rock Similar to the kind EK had in his 125g with his Ilangi's.

this is the setup i was thinking of, i cant wait till i am out of school and can move out and finally have a troph tank.
                            i know whatever Sp./Variant i get i want 40 Adults (4m-36f)

if i have to raise fry to adults and cull the males then i will do it.
i am thinking of adding a trio of Petros aswell.
something that will compliment the trophs i get well.
i am really leaning towards the annectens, theres just something about them that makes me want them, they are so cool, i love their blue eyes, and the stripes, but the forked tails is just BADA$$!!!

With a wet/dry you dont need an inline heater.. just put a regular heater in the sump and you are good to go.

Inline.. just expensive, and if for some reason or another water stops flowing the inline heater has very little water to heat up where if power goes out on the sump pump there will be a ton of water that still is heated and you will not have a blow out.... and its ALOT cheaper than a inline heater.
