  • 125g Tanganyikan *new aquascape*

I'm taking out all of the river rocks i had in this tank for two reasons. Poo and extra food always gets stuck in the caves and my fronts are getting too big to hide in there so i'm giving them some bigger rocks.

If anybody is available to help me with the scaping, i'll buy some beer. I'm looking to do a very natural, Tanganyikan setup. If not, i'll do it myself and post some pics and and we can go from there.

but they arent from Lake Tanganyika. I am very specific about what fish go in this tank. I wouldnt mind having one for my other tank. I got a section of the tank scaped, but i need more stuff. i'll try to post pics tonight

dont be a jerk. It doesnt say anything about Lake Tanganyika. It just says many lakes in Africa. Plus i already have 3 Syn Cats

                  F-Rex,

Any chance this tank does not see sunlight ? If it does not then here is what I would do.. I would head over to EPO or somewhere that sells white LED lights.. and install about 10-12 across the top of the tank. This will give you very little light in the tank and your Fronts will not need caves. I would then make more of a open terrain with plenty of open spaces..

Now if the tank gets a lot of sunlight then yes you will need something for them to hide under until darkness.

Remember these fish live in the deep where there is little sunlight during the day. They come up in the open water column to hunt at night, eating primarily cyps (the sardines of Lake Tanganyika) as their food.

They stay in the open naturally, but because they dont like the light, they will hide for the most part.. LED lights dont give off a lot light and your fish might be more happy to come out during the day time, but like said before.. they are night hunters, so look for them to be most active at night :)

i lowered the light quite a bit. i have a dual bulb 36" fixture that has helped alot. I'll definately look into the LED idea. My guys dont really hide anymore, but i just wanted to give them stuff to swim through and give the tank some "depth". I'll finish up tonight and post pics and see what everyone thinks.

Cool :) Yeah LED's are cool for giving fish that "night light feel" and they might find it easier.
