    Timmy,

Welcome to the Houston fish box.

From what you are saying you are new to a slightly demanding fish, with some aggression issues and a couple of "must follow rules"
Like everyone else here, read as much as you can. Several people here have given you some good websites to read though.

How many fish are you getting ? Do you know the size and age of the fish ?
What size tank are you putting together ?
Filtration ? What are you going to put on there ?

Tropheus are picky fish.. which means you have to deal with some of their issues.
Feeding has to be consistently good food, and preferable with greens in it.
As you can answer as many questions as we ask, we can get you going on setting up a tank, maintaining it and most of the things you have to worry about while having these awesome fish :)

Again welcome to the Houston fish box !
    Jesper

30 fish at 3-4" means they are adults.
You need to get a 6ft 125g minimum or better would be a 180g tank.

Filtration. Wet/dry capable of filtering 200g or better.
A Pump capable of pushing on a 125 to 180 about 1200 gph at the sump level up to a 1800 gph.
If you go the route of canisters, then 2 Fluval FX5, or 2 Eheim 2262. You will also want to add 2 power heads pushing at least 1000 gph inside the tank to get the water flow you need.

Seaweed is a good food source for Trophs, but you want to add go with a good food stable such as NLS or Dachini. Seaweed should be a supplement, not 100% their food

Tropheus have a very long intestinal tract because their main food is algae which takes a long time to digest.. this has one bad problem, high amounts of raw protein, causes digestion problems and they can get sick from this issue.
This is why greens should be feed to them do it will help out clean and clear out their digestion tract.
