  • Incredibly Long Makeover Story!

Well since I'm new here and yall don't know me yet let me start off by sayin I name all my tangs. Call me crazy! Anyways, I have a 55 gal that I put a bunch of Slate in.

Well, it turned out that the slate was turnin the water yellow. So, i decided to give the tank a makeover. I took all the slate out, caught all the fish and put them in a smaller holding tank and started to siphon the water out when I noticed a lil tiny baby swimming on the bottom. So, I immediately stopped suckin water and searched for more babies. I only found 3 and was thinkin that sucks cuz the rest must have gotten eaten. I went to feed the big fish in the holdin tank and the 2 kenyi females I have (did I forget to mention the babies were kenyis?) 1 ate and the other sat in the corner and chased the other fish away so I thought "HMM, I bet she's holdin". grabbed her out and held her in the lil tank with the 3 babies in it and pryed her mouth open and she spit out 9 more babies.

So I spread the good news to my local fish buddies on another forum (sorry, yall ain't my first) and then went and picked my daughter upand took her to my house to help me with the makeover. While at my house she was admiring my 125 Tang tank when I heard her holler "come here, there are babies!" and sure enough Daffy and Brich were guarding a litter of micro-babies. Wait for it, it gets better. While admiring my new babies she hollered again "look, there are bigger babies under the rock!" and sure enough there was another litter that had to be a few weeks old. When I got home from work the next day I quarinteened Brich with her micro-babies on the end of the tank and could only find 4 of the bigger ones and took them out and put them in a little holding tank.
(they'r brichardis in case I failed to mention that already)

And now, for those of you that were wonderin, yes I did actually do the makeover.

And that concludes my really long story!
Thanks, Yall come back now, ya hear!

Neolampologus Brichardi ? Leave the babies in the tank until you are ready to sell them. They are VERY territorial and will defend their babies. Once they have a second batch, the first batch helps them out rearing their young and so on. Its really fun when you see hundreds of babies in there. The Slate setup will get you a TON of babies quick. Used to have N. Brichardi's and they breed like rabbits. (just FYI)

big rocks + medium size rocks + small rocks = more natural look.
I ate my fish that died.
