  • Experience with Tangs coexisting with Malawis

I love all of the Tangs that people are keeping these days just as much as the next guy. But I still have a soft spot for some of the Malawi Peacocks as well. Is anyone out there currently housing these two in the same tanks and if so, what are you keeping?

I just set up a 90 gallon with a ton of holey rock and I just don't know which direction to go with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My dad has a big mixture of malawi's and a few tangs. He keeps just about every colorful peacock known to man, mixed in with a few calvus, frontosa's, and some tredesepholus. He kept a few tropheus but they didnt make it to long. His tank is a 125 gallon and all fish are about 6 to 7 inches big. Any ways hope that helps a little.

On a side not i was able to keep a school of 30 trophs, and frontosas in with some haps, and some orange peacocks, as well as some other victorians.
    Got Dovii??? I do!!!

I have been keeping 40 Trophs "Moops" with two Tawain Reef males and a German Red Peacock, along with about 7 Demasoni. Trophs are the only fish that I have found that can match aggression with Demasoni. I had no problem at all with the two species. The Demasoni breed all the time.

Yeah, I had a friend that kept a similar mix. He had a pretty good sized tank as well...150+ gallons. I figured that it was possible, just wanted to hear some success stories and horror stories if people had input.
