    Re: MY NEW TANK

if you want to keep other fish i would pull the brichardi's out

they become ruler of the tank once they start breeding and will have everything else in the corner

      Re: MY NEW TANK

Multis are cool, but kinda boring. They don't change color at all, not like the brevis and meleagris. They also don't do the "protector dance" where they stick their tails and head up and belly down  and fins out to scare other fish away from their shells. Or pipes in my case.

          Re: MY NEW TANK

was looking online meleagris do look really cool, but as you see they are not easy to find. good news on the tank. two of the cyps are starting to color up more. their back tales are now almost completely yellow (well getting closer) and one is startin to show blue. oh and about the brichardi ek, i was planning on taking out the breeding pair (that is if they pair) and put them in a separate tank (gonna set it up in case soon) because none are really breeding size just yet. same goes for the julies, though i cant decide whether i would move the pair or give the non pairs to Tim to put in his tank. i may end up with another 20 next to my bed and another 20 next to the 55    how crazy would that be.

                Re: MY NEW TANK

Well let it never be said that i dont over doit just a little bit. while mistakenly going into a fish store i found a good deal on some smaller leleupi. so i got six, and some more rock. a little bickering at first but they seem to be settling in nicely. i plan on adding some more plants from my 60 to the tank this evening. the new leleupis are about an inch and a half, on the two larger brichardi are that size, the cyps are about 2 inches. so thats where my fish are size wise now. oh and here is a pic.

                            Re: MY NEW TANK

Well i have BIG BIG news. at least its big for me. MY Brichardis Bred. i have little babies as of today so if they hatched yesterday oh well today is their birthday now because i saw them today . looks like there are 30 to 50 its kinda hard to tell when they are all clumped up. so far they have not been getting aggresive towards anyone but i am goin to remove the parents and the young in the next day or so. which mean i gotta set up another tank hurray. im so excited these are the first cichlids i have ever bred. now i just have to wait for the Julis to pair up. and the Lupes, and all the rest that i am going to try to breed. but since the Brichardi will not attack the young when they get bigger they dont really need a separate fry tank. but they will get one to themselves and that way i can pull out the young when they get big enough and they wont have any competition.

Put them in a big tank!

A friend has a 55g over runned by them right now! They constantly breed in the colony and pretty much mass produce to fill the tank.

Congrats on your first of many spawns!
