Mixed Cichlids

I have noticed in most LFS it is common to have a tank or two of "mixed cichlids". What does this mean? If I bought a group of them from such a tank does that mean they would all get along? What varieties are usually grouped together in a "mixed" tank? I have never owned cichlids before so I'm unsure about this practice. Thanks!

It's just that, mixed. Most are probably hybrids, so there really is no way to know how well they would get along. Most of the "pure" fish in there are Kenyi and Auratus, and they don't really get along with anybody. Mixed tanks are kinda like Mexican Hotdogs......
