  • Question about Protomelas "spilonotus tanzania" Also known as the Insignus Blue Orang

Also known as the Insignus Blue Orange

Best Idea to take care of them. I have 1 male and 3 female and they are kept in a 135g tank by themselves.

Does anybody have any good ideas or suggestions?

I have checked the internet already but I know there is a lot of experience in this list.

BTW, I may not get a lot of responses but any responses will help

Thank you so much for all your help in advance.

I would assume they're like the other Haps and Peacocks. PH of 7-8, little bit of rock work, and you should be good. I've never kept them before so this is just my assumption.

I walked into my lfs, I was looking around and I saw them. The owner gave me a great price on the group. 1m/3f(with one holding)

The male is about 4 to 5 inches and the females are 3 to 4 inches.

I have all 4 of them in a 135g by themself. I will try to post some pictures.

        The male colors are beautifull.

I just need a little more help to get them to breed.

Tank: 135g with built in overflow to a 60 gallon sump
        Extra Filtration: 3 eheim 2217
under gravel pvc water movement with two mag 5 pump
Power heads: 2 maxi jet 1200
        plenty of holey rock
        Water changes: weekly 30 to 50 %

I have not test for ph, but i hope it is where it needs to be.

        any more suggestion??

Thanks to all of you, whom have responded to my post.

          holy crap!
thats alot of filtration for 4 fish!
          nice!

it sounds like the setup is perfct!
test the ph, and as long as its between 7.8-8.6 your gravy.
if all parameters are in check then just give them time, let them settle in, they will breed for you in time.
