Petros have a lot of variety, as well, and it's not just color. It just costs an arm and a leg to buy the different species. The facial and body differences among petros make each of them unique. Most trophs simply vary in color. Yes, geoff, I know you have annectens and your dubs are your faves :) But the overall differences are minute compared to Petros (look at your tri-colors compared to any other petro). Also, petros are smarter, more fun to watch in colonies, and are a more rewarding fish to keep due to their difficulty in captivity -- especially the larger, more aggressive species.

I love my 4 colonies of tropheus (Al, I saw my first colony at your place), but I'd sacrifice them for my 4 colonies of petros any day of the week!

Brian (russ) has to be about the most vocal in his love for them -- even going so far to ask; Can I get an Amen on that

I vote for making Brian an Ambassador of Petro - A Promoter, if you will.

But for all aspect,,,, The variety of petro's and of tropheus seem so opposingly different... Let me explain;

Almost all the tropheuses are shaped similarly, some being larger than others, many being different color than others and they mostly kinda act similar..

Where as the Petro are all shapped differently other than for their fat lips... .. Different styles of personality and yeah... smart.. Colorations are fascinating -- Sizes are wide variations and the trews I have, the males are different in the way they approach the females.

One of the males is a gentleman... the other one is a brute.... One female will breed with the brute... the others breed with the gentleman.... fascinating...

Brian still has a thing about picking them out of the water while feeding them.. You should make a video of that Brian..woof woof...

In the Wild, tropheus is king. They school in massive numbers man.

Petros are more solitary fish. They tend to claim a large territory and don't school.
