Today, I introduced a few labs into my tank for starters. Tonight, they are still running their noses up and down the glass of the tank. Only the littlest one is actually doing what I'd expect from a cichlid. He is the only one who is digging and setting up territory! EVERYONE else is just going up and down! Please tell me if this is normal!

I have an electric yellow that has been in the tank the longest and he does the weirdest stuff. He swims as fast as he can from end to end, top to bottom, the same pattern over and over. This can go on for 30 minutes or more, then he will just swim normal. Not all there I guess...

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if oxygen is the answer. I came home and my filter got unplugged by my goliath of a cat. (Maine Coon) I let it run for as long as possible while floating them but I didn't want them to suffocate in their bag.
Yeah, I put them in there about three or four hours ago and they are doing nothing but up and down... it's kind of annoying.College = fishless for now. Vicarious living!

If oxygen were the problem, they would be up at the surface gasping for air.Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.

But, I have plenty of room for them to run around and build barriers and territory, lots of visual barriers and things like that. It's your perfect starter's mbuna tank.College = fishless for now. Vicarious living!
