Thanks!
Couldn't have done it wiithout Jesper! I got the camera and it sat collecting dust cause pictures would not turn out right and I didn't want to get into reading about it cause I knew the time would come when I would want the lenses! Just like every hobby I have I tend to get too in to it and then go a bit overboard....
Jesper, I have spent the most of the morning after gettin back from V's searching for lens....700g Mini-Monster tank

Maybe it was 125...
Here is a list of all the available ISO settings.
• ISO 100
• ISO 125
• ISO 160
• ISO 200
• ISO 250
• ISO 320
• ISO 400
• ISO 500
• ISO 640
• ISO 800
• ISO 1000
• ISO 1250
• ISO 1600
When taking picture of your tank you really should take them with a higher ISO like 400.. the noise you get is SO little you can BARELY see it. (only a pro will see it)

I stand semi-corrected. Most cameras just make the speed jumps in 100ths.
With my standard 18/55mm lens I'm pretty limited. When zoomed out I get a an F-stop of 3.5. When zoomed in I think its 7.0 which is pretty much useless with fast movers.
My best shots on that lens come when zoomed out giving me an F-Stop of 3.5, my shutter at 1/50 or 1/40 and and a speed of 800. Even then I'm really limited jerky actions of the fish. For fail-safe shooting I'll F-Stop 3.5, 1/80, and ISO 1600. Its noisy but its reliable - especially on burst shooting.
I think to get the best quality shots with active fish one would need (like Jesper was talking about) a nice fixed telephoto with a big enough aperture to not have to sacrifice shutter-speed by increasing the film-speed (ISO) too much.
Either way, Ek your pictures came out very nice.Experiencing an aquatic renaissance!

You're right about the light in the tank. The brighter the setting, the smaller aperture you can have, which means the faster the shutter and lower the film speed = the pictures you took.
Your pictures just made me spent a good hour in front of my tank snapping pictures lol...Last edited by jeebus; 02-22-2009, 11:18 PM.Experiencing an aquatic renaissance!

EK -- like I told you.. sit for a bit and just take a ton of pictures until you feel you got the right settings and see what made the picture the best then remember that for when you go out and taking other tank pictures. I want to work on getting a hood made for my flash and a remote so I can take picture with the flash above (ie sitting on top of the tank like your lights do) and take pictures of fish as they pass underneath.. I want to see how much more light it will help
