All lights require a ballast but yeah most halides have a remote ballast.

I actually still use the heater and it still turns on occassionally. They are still in the 125g for now.

You seen the tank in the front at T&T? I almost took that home one day but for the money I stopped myself and have been snooping around for a more custom tank to my exact liking.... coming soon

                • The depth is really really nice and I can imagine an awesome scape to compliment it but honestly think that 6ft is a waste unless it's a std. tank.

Yeah that is the one I was thinking of :) but you are very correct.. 1800 for the tank and 1600 for the stand (and gear?) At $3400 I am thinking its way more tank than I could handle... I am in the same boat as you are... except there is only one way for me to get a super tank.. and that is to move into a new place.. I dont have the wall space for one while I am living where I am living at without seriously having to move other peoples need out of the way..

                    • There was no gear other then tank and stand.

As for me I am gonna buy within a year and hopefully by then I will decide whether it goes into storage till the fiance is done with her residency or set it up in the new house we have bought.

Had to take these across the room to keep from interrupting them cause when I approach the tank they rush the glass to greet me.
