those are the newest spit fry that for some reason like it out in the open instead of in the rocks where it's safe. :(

Yeah there are a few that just don't get the whole hide for your life thing.....  but luckily the adults don't pay them no mind.

Its an amazing site to see 40 illangi's at once. I can't wait til mine color like that. I might just jump ahead of time and get WC so that I won't have to wait..

I got mine about a month ago and the probably doubled to tripled in size on two feedings sparingly of NLS and Danichi

Nice talking to you yesterday Ek,

They grow pretty fast so your wait might not be that long!

ek, do you have egg crates in that tank?  if not, did you just put the rocks on gravel/sand?  i was thinking on getting some rocks for my mix cichlid tank (55 gal), and i am scared that the glass will crack if i put anything heavy
              65 gallon - ADA 120p - planted
55 gallon - AGA standard - mix cichlid
              30 gallon tall - eclipse acrylic - semi-planted

              live and let live

I put egg crate on the bottom of all my tanks.

You could get away with not using it but I like the added security.

I think you are talking about the goby. It is a Tanganicodus irsacae. There aren't any white petros that I know of. But if there are, let me know!

John, it's actually an Eretmodus Mkombe and it's only that white when it comes feeding time...usually a really dark gray with yellow tinted white bars....ask myjohnson since he has it's brother which is white all the time. THanks for the compliment!

Phung, Thanks for comp! I love how aggressive my Ilangi's are when they eat and how form a tornado of hungry mouths when food hits the water so I had to include it! As for fry....I cleared about 50 about a month ago and when I did I counted like 5-6 females holding and as soon as the old fry was out the females started to spit again, the best I could count I think there is about 30-50 with a few females still holding.

Tim, You were close.....He is a goby.

Just wondering , pm me how much are they going for these days. Can't wait till mine becomes a breeding factory like yours. One of my young Illangi's got jumped last night and I found it floating this morning when I came outside to feed. I guess it is definately survival of the fittest. Now I should be down to 34.

Yeah, I tend to be a believer of "survival of the fittest" as well....that's why I don't strip my females and I don't pull fry till I have to, also let the colony decide who stays and who goes.

As for fry....I start them at about $10 no need to be secretive about it but I do cut decent deals for bulk purchases which is what I push to sell since I think a colony is not a true colony unless there is at least 20+.
