  • Scratchy? Wiggle dance?

. I have bubbles lining the back of my 44 gallon pentagon tank and a strong, hang on the back filter with lots of hiding places and nibble proof, live plants. From what I am told, these are perfect conditions for a group of small cichlids. So, what I don't understand is why my fish is hiding under a large leaf, doing the wiggle dance against the rock. Is he scratching because of fungus or parasite? What might be causing this dance? The tempurature stays at 79-81, so fungus shouldn't be a problem. I took my water to get tested and it is perfect. Can someone please help?

Also, I am soon to begin buying the more expencive, non-mutt like fish. What should I keep? I am very, very interested in the bright, vibrant colors, such as Demasoni and trophs. I don't have much money to kill but I do have some. What species?

What type of fish is this? How many do you have?

Some cichlids are territorial and will protect a certain area, such as a cave.
    Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

My metri does that as the dominant fish but this fish has always been one to dart around and annoy other fish like a pesky younger sibling. This is completely out of his personality and he is actually scratching his belly on the rock. I'm kind of worried!
