K, guys, I had posted last week about setting up a tank. I have decided to do africans, but have a question......

I am getting some Moba Frontosa, I have Auratus, and Acei, can they go together until the Frontosa get bigger? There are 10 Auratus, 10 acei, and there will be 10 frontosa......165 gallon tank......
Soon to have tanks up and going again!

No. Don't do it. Young small Fronts are so easy to get stressed. When I got my first set of Fronts three years ago I tried the same thing and all the Fronts stressed out and died. Fronts just don't do well with faster more aggressive fish. Trust me...those Auratus and Acei are both faster and definately more aggressive than Fronts.

How big are the Mobas' going to be when you get them? If they are less than 3" inches.....then I wouldn't put anything with them. If they are over 3" inches...then you could add some Comps and/or Calvus. You may also be able to get away with a couple small Clown Loaches....maybe. Just try to make sure everything is a little smaller than the Fronts...but not small enough for the Fronts to eat.

Eventually your fronts will more than fill your tank... but if you want something else... perhaps peacocks?
          Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

anything under 2"-2.5" should go in a tank by themselves..........maybe a bn pleco or 2. They will grow into your 165g within 2-3 years.

In my experience with Fronts, I have put several different species with them. Neolamprologus Leleupi, Julidiochromis Marlieri (any species of Juli with work, but make sure they are all the same species or they will kill each other), Calvus, Compressicep, Tropheus and Synodontis Petricola.

For the love of god, please dont put anything from Lake Malawi in with your Fronts. Like Dave said, most of them are going to be too fast and too aggressive for your fronts. Dont use plants, they will dig them up. Dont use sharp rocks, Fronts are extremely 'jumpy' fish and they can severely injure themselves on sharp objects. dont buy more than 7 or 8 of them if you plan on growing them out to be adults or get a bigger tank. I have 7 in my 125g at 6" and they are getting cramped.

Enjoy your Fronts, they are awesome fish to sit and relax with.

I had 15 Mpimbwe Frontosa juvies in with 10 adult Brichardi and they did fine. The only complaint I have against the Brichardi (and the reason I sold all of mine) is they are EXTREMELY territorial. They took over the left hand side of my tank and my Frontosa refused to go on that side of the tank. Even at 6", my Fronts were terrified of the Brichardi. Oh, and they breed like rabbits....so if you're ok with having hundreds of baby Brichardi all over your tank, rock and roll. LOL.

if possible, try to keep just female Brichardi. They look exactly like the males but aren't as aggressive. So far, the best fish I've kept with the Fronts are Juli's and Leleupi's.
