i'm not sure why but one of our fish suddenly has no tail fin. guess they got aggressive last night. end of his tail is now blood red. some other random body scales missing too. he's not swimming as much and often looks like he's standing up. like his back end sinks without his tail. not sure. will he heal or is this permanent? thanks.

It should grow back. It all depends. Keep him in a quarantine tank so that the others don't continue to keep picking on him. Keep the water in the quarantine tank clean by performing frequent water changes. I usually add a little aquarium salt as well.Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Like Tim said, sometimes they do regrow. It depends on how badly the little bones (rays) are damaged. Good food and clean, clean water.
MarkWhat are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

I agree it depends on how much is gone if its all the way to the base it more than likely will not regrow.
