  • what kind of rocks?

Hey guys are those lava rocks or some kind of slate in the fish gallery tank? I also see some videos on youtube that has these dark rocks. Some of them look like small boulders, other look like really big lava rocks. Some of them look like slates. I remember back then holey rock use to be popular. I haven't got the chance to go to pet stores in years. I just started to get back to african cichlids. Could you guys tell me what are the name of the rocks and where I could get them for reasonable price. I'm planning to put in some peacock cichlids.

        1) hard to tell but it does look like some algae is covering the rocks also.
        2) lace rock.
        3) slate of some kind mixed with what looks like magma rock.

        Hope that helped some.

Lowe's I know for sure sells big bags of lava rock (maybe 50# if I remember correctly in both the iron oxidized red color and black) for under $10. I used it in both of my 75's when I first moved to Texas.

I think I have those to Soulja. I don't think they're the same ones though in the video. The ones in the video look like 10 times as big than the lava rock I have now. The ones I have now are like 2 inches wide.
