  • Stocking a 150 with malawi

Hey guys! I'm thinking of switching my saltwater 150 to cichlids, since it's becoming too much of a hastle for a kid's budget haha.Care to help with stocking? I'm going to run an all male display, and use my 55 as a grow out or a hospital/quarentine.Here's my list so far, one of each, all male:Red Empress, Taiwan Reef, Blood Dragon, Blue Ahli, Yellow lab, O.B Zebra, Venustus (maybe), Red Zebra, German red, Cobalt, Demasoni, Albino Taiwan Reef, Bumblebee, Lemon jake.Thinking of doing aragonite sand from petsmart, and either somelava rock or cobblestone. Something nice and simple, perhaps with some small plants in between.I run a large eheim right now, but might add another.Help/Advice on stocking?
Currently fishless, but a proud mama to a musk turtle hatchling.

You want your male and some of his fry? Lols. They finally spawned but with your male and my female. However, the female is still holding the eggs. I tried to strip her tonight but her damned spines ended up slicing my palm... :(
College = fishless for now. Vicarious living!

      Why?
I ate my fish that died.

She was skinny when she went into holding, now, a week or so in, she's even skinnier. I'd rather have more fry, later, when she's at a healthy plumpness, than have her die, now.

I like the peacock idea but only two or three species. Lemon Jake, German Reds and Albino Strawberries.

              All cheap fish.

              Not worth keeping.

Well, when you're in high school, expencive fish are hard to keep and find. High school budgets don't really allow for much.

why keep the fish you keep, simply because you want to. Watch out for those mbuna stressing your peacock.

                      I completely understand.

I would post a want to buy thread. Member's selling fry is a lot cheaper than going to the fish store.

Save the extra money for fish food and more fish!

Just buy something that holds value.

You spend money on it now but when you sell it you break even basically.

Eheim products are always in high demand at the right price.
