  • Kribs spawn

The Krib mated pair I got at the HAS Auction about 4 months ago spawed in the community tank and are looking after their fry today. They had used the cave I put in the tank for them and are making great parents protecting them from the swordtails, rummeynosed tetras, corys and zebra loaches so far. I doubt if I get to save them, but going to see how long they will protect them.
i'm sure they will spawn again soon so will try and get most of the other fish out by the next spawning. Will also try and get a pic of them tommorrow minding the herd.

Now, the only hard part will be getting them to stop. kribs are about as prolific breeders as convicts once they get going.

It has now been about three weeks and the parents are still guarding the few remaining fry. (About 20) I have a spare tank and would like to move the remaining fry to it. It does have a bristlenosed pleco, Goldnen nugget pleco and two peppered cories in it. Also lots of red shrimp and lots of plants along with a sponge filter.
Do you all think some of the fry might survive there? I plan on feeding them frozen baby shrimp and first bites dry. I think most of the other fry died from starvation rather than from being eaten.
