  • Otopharynx lithobates diet

I just recently bought a pair of Otopharynx lithobates from fish gallery. All of my other malawi cichlids are eating NLS and Danichi pellets like a champ, but my male Otopharynx lithobates is not swallowing the pellets. What other food should I try? Flakes or live ghost shrimp?

Did you ask what they were eating at Fish Gallery?

If I were you, I'd try everything you had at home before I'd even think about live ghost shrimp, just because it's easier feeding prepared foods, ghost shrimp from feeding tanks at stores are pretty "dirty," and sometimes it's just that much more difficult to switch a fish over to pellets and/or flakes when they're used to eating live foods.

Try flakes. They often get flakes there or adult live brine shrimp. Your otos are just adjusting. If you got the adult males , I know exactly which fish you got (I'm over there on a weekly basis). Definitely try some flakes (any standard brand). But when they get hungry enough, they 'll eat anything.
