    50g Community Tanganyikan Journal

    Ive always like Tangs but never really had enough money or room for a big tank for tropheus. I do like tropheus a lot but just don't have all the resources right now to take on a project like that. I do, however, have smaller tanks and so I've decided to start a little community tank since I think there are a lot of underrated tangs besides trophs, petros, leleupis, brichardis etc. It is exactly 12:00 midnight so lets see what I can accomplish in a TRUE journal lol. Im going to try to take pics as I go.

    ADA 90p
    ADA garden stand
    Lighting - Coralife 1x150MH + 2x65PC
    Filtration - 2x ADA ES600
    Flow Vortech MP10

    Ok, changing the bulbs on the light fixture. Its a 1x150mh with 2x65 PCs. Im going to run 10000k for the MH. What bulbs should I run to make my fish "pop"? Im thinking actinics for the powercompacts?

      i like the look that a mixture of actinic and PC gives to the water but not so much to the fish. If you want more of a natural earth look id mix a PC with a plant bulb, one of the purple ones. that combo made my fish look crazy

        Thanks for the suggestion!!! Already bought the actinics so thats what went in. Finished cleaning the light fixture and changed the bulbs out. Now, time for a quick scape. Im a cheapo so Im going to go with what I have. Pool filter sand and some rocks. half a beer and here we go!!!

          Tentative scape and hooking up the filters.

          Slow fill as to not screw up the scape.

            Well, I ran into a problem with one of the filters so that will have to wait but for the most part, its done! What do you guys think?







            Imma get my little cousin to take some better pics. The water is still cloudy and I still need to get that second filter running with the lily pipes correctly. Other than that, Im pretty pleased.

              love the scape, what type of rocks are those?
              25g - Reef
              3.5g - Surge Tank
              10g - Ichthyophthirius multifilis breeding colony

                  I wanted to use something more "biotope" but this is what was in the garage so thats what I used.

                      I like the rimless tank, Is there a background on there or not I cant really tell. If so what did you use? Also, What type of filter is that and I have never seen those types of intake and outtake tubes.
                      46 gallon bow front
                      Grow Out Cichlid tank

                      240 gallon long
                      Community SA/CA/African Cichlid (we will see how it works out....)

                              vanson how bout you hook me up with about 100 lbs of that stone KTHNXBAI! tank looks sick, never heard of this scape with the tank youre doing but i think its gonna be awesome!!!
