  • West African Steatocranus Irvinei Breeding

I was delighted and astonished to find about 40 baby irvinei's (the blue lipped humphead) being herded around in their parent's tank. Because of the female's coloration I was thinking they were going to breed about four months ago and I finally gave up looking. Like other members of this genus, they are extremely secretive about the big event. Dad is an excellent parent and I have been pretty suprised at how fast the fry are growing. I like these fish much better than tinanti and the red-eyed steatocranus but I will miss having the common casaurius. Anyone in the Houston area breeding them? Would love to start another colony of casaurius.

    cheers,

    Robert

    DO you have any pictures?

I know dblondefemme had some breeding a while back. Not sure if she still has them though.
    Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

World's worst photographer but I will try. I am really shocked at how fast these babies are growing.
