I bought a pair of Borleyi Taiwan Reef at the last HAS auction. It's an unusual variant (at least to me), and the 3" male is absolutely stunning. I originally put them in my 135G but he freaked out, so I moved them to their own 29G. The thing is, this is the shiest pair of fish I have ever seen. If you come anywhere at all near the tank they disappear. Tonight I have been able to observe him for 10 minutes from my office chair by remaining completely motionless, which is the most I've ever seen him in well over the month since the auction. The female is pretty much the same way.
So what I was thinking was to throw in some other fish to maybe entice them to come out more, just by virtue of the motion and having other tankmates. I've got a bunch of 1-1.5" red empress fry that would do the trick.
Does that makes sense to anyone? Anyone have any thoughts or similar experiences?
Thanks!
