I am dividing/shuffling tanks and tankmates. I have assorted haps in a 75gallon. Mainly peacocks, borleyi, lithobates, electric blue; but also a few mbuna: rusties, yellow labs, powder blue, cobalt blue, exasperatus. Question: breeding colony of yellow labs has developed. Would like to keep them in this tank with peacocks, but should I remove all the other mbuna to the mbuna tank? They're all pretty mellow now, but I don't want any trouble. And what do I do with this Elec Blue???? I was told he was fine with peacocks, now hear he'll kill off all other male peacocks and is a predator and no fry will survive! He's gorgeous - trying to figure out where he'll be happy? Would he get along in a 150 with SA/CA cichlids - no other peacocks, only blue is paler Honduran Red Point?

Electric Blue's are naturally fish eaters which means if it can get a hold of a fry its a dead fry.
If you have fish that are blue in coloration he will hunt them as he believes they are in his enemies. As long as you dont keep smaller blue fish in the tank he is ok with it. My mom owns a 90g Malawi tank, in there are two red shoulder peacocks, 4 red peacocks (smaller) and two Electric blue's. The largest fish is the red shouldered peacock and he the dominant, and keeps the tank in check. There is a large number of fish in the tank, therefore aggression in kept in check by the fact that there enough fish in there to make a difference. My two cents.
What fish do Jesper have
180 WC T. Moorii Chilambo +1 Petro trewavasae.
110 Cyps, WC Xeno Spilopterus Kipili WC/F1/F2 T. sp red Kiku
58 S. Decorus

Hmmm well I knew not to have 2 male Elec Ble - but there are other peacocks with alot of blue and he hasn't bothered them (all adults). It's just now that I am having all these babies.........so I think I will put him in the tank with sa/ca tonight and see how he does. I can take the honduran's out. Man, this gets mind boggling sometimes. I don't like to lose fish - ever! Thanks for your input !Thanks so much,
Lydia

my electric blue is fine in my tank (2 males) the big male shows no signs of dominance. Some fish are just meaner than others. The other male is much smaller, but is also mentally challenged (can not seam to eat food right, misses when going for it).Fishtafarian- Fish are more than just a hobby, they are an obsession.

It took me going through several fish till I learned which ones to get that would look good and get along. Some "aggressive" fish stayed calm and did well and some "calm" species caused trouble. Just have to try them out and be willing to move fish around.Fishtafarian- Fish are more than just a hobby, they are an obsession.
