Pseudocrenilabrus multicolor (multicolor?)

My first and long-coveted African cichlids! I have a trio (2 F, 1 M) and just found out on the 16th that one of the gals is holding.

I know, I know...'OOH, African cichlids holding! What'd you do, add water?' ) But I'm SO excited! I've been wanting these fish for ages (i.e. 6 years), and they finally showed up on a list for work and I couldn't resist.

Still working on the plant aspect of the tank, but I've been lazy (I have literally 2 plants growing in a tank in which the lighting is catered to a fully-planted tank - Algae Central :) .) Objective is to add some anubias or, more likely, some bolbitis. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I wanted to share my excitement with you guys!

Not sure if they're real P. multicolor multicolors or P. nicholsi or another species in disguise, and to tell the truth, I don't really care right now and don't WANT to know or google it, as they're beautiful and they're my first Africans.

Wow these are hard to comeby, congrats on the spawn!
These have been on my want list for a while, how's their aggression?
Do you think a pair would work in a 15g planted tank with 5-6 Madagascar rainbows, 12 gold neon tetras, and 3 Synodontis nigiventis?

A pair might work in that setup, but I couldn't say for sure. The stocklist you have there seems like enough, though. However, I think they'd do okay if it was heavily planted. My male tends to be pretty aggressive. I actually had to separate one of the females when I first got the trio. I put him and the female he "liked" into this tank, and then waited for the other female to heal up - she was looking pretty ratty. Then I redid the tank and put all three of them together. Since then, it's been all right, though the females do hang out a lot towards the top, which I why I need to get my butt in gear and put some more plants in there to serve as hiding places. :)

They're in a 20 tall (24" long).

Congrats MB. Are you going to do anything special to attempt to raise the fry . . . or just let nature take its course and see if any fry survive?

Tim, I have no idea. I'm very tempted to just put some more plants in there and let them be, but I'm also so nervous! Lol. I've never personally had "parent" fish before, I've always had to do something to make sure the babies survive, so this is totally new to me. I'll probably end up just adding plants and waiting it out without interfering - if she even holds to term, that is. I do a little dance every day when I check on her and find she's still got something in there. )
