i need to know first of all what kind of synodontis this is if anyone knows please help i think i am wrong in my guess but also i was told it was compatable with african cichlids true???

looks like synodontis ocellifer......google it.....you will learn more....however i think it is good with africans....

Synodontis longristicus from africa, normally coexists with Africans in the wild, so yeah its fine, they top out at about 7".

The occelifer has much larger spotting pattern, whereas this species has many more spots that are smaller in diameter.

Most syno's will hide a fair chunk of the day, so don't think he is scared or being bossed around (unless you see nipping). That's just what they do. Give him a while and they will come out more often. They are really cool pets. That variety doesn't get very big, so you don't have to worry about a monster growing in your tank.
