  • Need to clean tank - five spawns in the way?

My pleco got spooked last night and completely took out my stacking of rocks. I have needed to clean the tank for a while but they (my n. brichardi) won't stop spawning. I'm afraid if I take the rocks out to rearrange them, the spawn will be eaten but the rocks need to be rearranged and the tank needs maintanence. But iv'e read that if I take the spawn out, the parencts will A) reject them when I put them back and B) will take out the empty nest syndrome on each other.

What do I do? Can I move the protectors/parents into a ten gallon, then eventually move the parents back into the big tank?

The brichardi will recover, if you lose a bunch of fry, not to worry, there will be more shortly.....do what you got to do and let mother nature take it's course....

      my 2 cents worth....

Truth is the cement that holds the bricks and stones of a sane and civilized society together. Remove the former and the latter will crumble.

+1 These fish are very hardy and bounce back easily.

The reason i quit keeping them is i had a group that developed tumors and they all died.

i think this is one of the most diluited strains of tangs out there.

It's one of my all time favorite fish but i wont keep them again unless i know for a fact they are wc or f1's

What about the group of 10-12 that I want to keep? Would the parents reject them if I moved them and put gem back?

i dont think so. Why are you moving anyone? You can clean the tank with everyone in there.
