Whats the deal on these? Did a little research and it says they are quite mean. I could not resist them so Im going to see how well they do in my 50g community. I took out my brichardis so hopefully that will help but has anyone kept them? How mean are they really?

I'm not sure, there are several varients of Julies, and I'm not sure which ones I have had...but some I found fairly mild mannered....and others are mean, but I think like with most territorial fish, it's all about the number of fish and the amount of space available....I have one right now, in a 135....and it seems to be holding it's own with a large number of other cichlids, including midsized frontosa....and Sunny the moshi who is getting very aggressive lately.....

They are cool unless you mix variants. They are usually peaceful otherwise.

I keep 13 of them in my 90 gallon tank with some trophs and I have not had any issues with them being aggressive.

Don't know much about the dickfeldi's.

I've kept Marleri Gombi's and quite liked them. They were mild mannered and looked really nice.

Have never really heard ny issues with Juli's being agressive in general other when they are breeding.

Then they turn into a typical tang.

I started out with four in my 30 XH and the dominant male killed two of them. They're housed with a few glolite tetras and julii cories which they leave alone.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.
