  • African keeper question.

All I hear about is africans nowadays is it really really fun to keep african fish cause its like an epidemic or something. I see their colors and stuff but I wouldn't think that would have everyone wanting them all the time.
    Forget the dog.
    Beware of fish!

Are they fun to keep or do people get them just for the colors?

Im new to them coming from reef tanks in the late 90s early 2000s to planted tanks in the mid to late 2000's. About 8 months ago I decided I just wanted a fish tank and got turned on to them. I was thinking they would be a break from all of the maintenance of my planted tanks....wrong. Way more water changes and way more challenging. All I can say about them is they are so much more fun than I was expecting. Every day when I come home my Tanganyikan tank looks different due to the activity of the fish building nests or being lit up for one reason or another. All in all just really fun fish to keep...

Trophs will interact with u more. Yesterday I was messing with my powerheads and and all my dubs were trying to nibble on my finger. I could pet these guys.

I like their attitude. They are happy to see me. . Also the challenge to make them happy and breed.
