Well I was gonna wait a bit but I can squeeze a wet/dry pre filter into it if I need to...

Yeah you are going to want to seed the water with some bacteria. If not you are going to have to wait awhile.

One question? What kind of internal water flow. For example powerheads. Just a thought make them work and they won't have the energy to fight. Like we do with trophs and petros

Well I have a 750 koralia, a 2217, and a Rena MP3 but the male has a rock that hes made into his home. So he can just chill in there and not really fight the current. I added alot more rock to the other end of the tank so the fems have something to hide in too.

But when he comes out of that rock he will have to work. Trust me flow deters aggression and 750gph is not enough. I've got over 10,000 gph in my 180 with zero aggression

Let me say I'm no expert on peacocks but it works with trophs and petros.

There's going to be a lot of aggression with a 55gal that has only 6 peacocks in it. If you doubled/tripled the stock and added filtration to make up for it, you'd be golden. I personally like 50/50 40/60 m/f ratios. Male aggression will be distributed over a few males, and females will be left alone.

I agree with the stocking levels that is a great way to slow down aggression. But ratio should be more female strong more like 2/8 IMO

Well that 55g has as much filtration as im gonna put on it. I probably wont go over the 2/8 margin. 10 fish in a 55 is kinda pushing it for my taste...

Well you just might have to deal with aggression then if you don't pack them in.

I guess it's all personal taste - You can put a good 20-30 peacocks in a 55gal with proper filtration and it will probably be one of the more peaceful tanks around. I was in transition and threw 9 peacocks in a 20g tall tank. A week later a female was holding, so apparently they were happy enough in that tight space. I ended up leaving them in there and still doing well.

What kind of filtration would I need for that many in a 55? I already have 2 canister filters...

2 canisters is enough - maybe toss on a HOB for extra mechanical. My 20g with the peacocks never sees any numbers to parameters with just a sponge filter, not real messy fish
