  • Tank Makeover

The pictures just don't do this tank justice. For those of you unfamiliar with it, it's 72"w x 34"t. It look's really small in the pictures. Hope you enjoy.

What type of fish are you trying to keep in this tank?

Not bad. I assume the river rocks are to help hold down the plants? Personally I would get some schist rubble or chip some off the back end of one of your bigger rocks to use for that. The round vs. blocky shapes seems a little weird to me. But if thats the way you like it, more power to ya!

Now that I look at it closer, I agree with this. Bill, smash one of those extra pieces of schist with a hamer and use that. I think it will look more natural, as the river rocks and the schist are a start contrast to each other. If you don't have any extra schist let me know, as I'm pretty sure that I do. (We always overbuy, for some reason. )

Well, now that ya'll point that out, it does look alittle wierd. As far as needing them to hold the plants in place. The plants stay there just fine w/o rocks. I just put them there for looks.

Then smash up some schist and throw that in there instead! Would look very natural, actuall.

                    Biotope.

Scapes based on biotopes will almost always look natural and better compared to just mixing random rocks with random fake plants.
